Meta builds is BC with the lowest displacement possible, 2x2 main guns with the second highest available caliber in the era and autoloader.Īmple of armor, more than necessary to tank the highest caliber available in the era at 1000m range. I usually build everything focused on something.ħ0% of my fleet expenditure would be consisted of Meta builds. i find those ship types the least interesting so when i build them i usually go for a standard gun boat and equip them with medium caliber guns like 4-6 inch on CL and 6-7 inch on CA. I don't invest in survivability at all in DD's because they are supposed to be expendable to an extent and making ships more survivable cost a a whole lot of money.ĬL,s and CA's i don't have a design philosophy for. meaning that i try to fit as many torpedo's on them as physically possible in a way that looks ridiculous while trying to make them as fast as possible. Yes they are effective against CA and CL's but you have other shiptypes to deal with them.ĭD's i use as clownboats. going for light calibre and fast reload only works if the enemy has not bothered at all to armor its vital area's on its capital ships. A bigger shell means more penetration and higher chance of critical hits like flashfires and ammo explosions that can give a huge early advantage in the battle. and are even cheaper to produce.įrom the 1910 onward always try to fit the biggest caliber possible on a BB. this is possible from the 1920's onward because BC's can function pretty well as main line BB's if you give them enough armor and firepower to do so. Sometimes i only build a couple of super dreadnoughts and complement them with a lot of battlecruisers. on the second type i most of the time go for 14inch or 15inch depending on tech era. Usually i take 16 inch guns or above on my super dreadnoughts if they are available. this type is far more balanced in the armor, speed and firepower department then the previous type and is cheaper but can take less punishment. The second type i build is what i call a main line BB. and then use those ships to take the brunt of the damage when a huge fleet on fleet engagement happens. i build 2 of them, or more depending on the length of the campaign. the first type is a super dreadnought having the heaviest armor, survivability and guns but a pretty slow speed. in the campaign i usually build 2 different types of BB's. except that i am prepared to sacrifice a lot more in the armor and gun department for more survivability when it comes to BB's. In all the other Era's i do mostly the same. I Just pick the biggest caliber possible as a main caliber because all the accuracy is ♥♥♥♥, even on the smaller calibers. While focusing on armor and firepower for the BB's. I used to build the fast torpedo raft monsters, but I've found they become so absurdly expensive for the engines, that I just can't build enough to allow myself to throw them away in torpedo rushes after 1930īetween 18 i prioritize speed over anything else when it comes to TB's and CL's. Atleast 10 torpedoes, and decent gunboat capability. No survivability upgrades, except anti flooding, unless I can find the tonnage for them after I finished it. They don't hit hard enough for my liking and have always been similar in price to CA, which makes the difference for me when I watch them plummet to the bottom after just one torpedo hit, whereas CA are trying to convince me they're battleships.ĭDs, I tend to build balanced. Most of the survivability focus is on tanking torpedoes, and I try to keep enough armor to atleast deter small guns.ĬL, I don't build past 1910. Underwater torpedoes always until 1920, and armor is generally my last focus, I trim the gun armor a bit as it seems to cost the most weight, and then I steadily increase it across the board until I'm out of tons.ĬA, 9" guns or higher, with fast reload and good accuracy to mow through destroyers, and be useful as fire support. Secondaries I keep small caliber to save tonnage, if I didn't care about aesthetics I'd probably dump them entirely Money is never an obstacle, as it's gonna break the bank either way so there should be absolutely no compromises if possible. Typically, the slowest Im willing to let my ships be is 30 knots, 40 if it's a destroyer.īBs, I tend to go for a Wyoming gun layout, with the main priorities being accuracy, hitting like a train, and lowering flash fire and ammo detonation chances, and obviously making it as tonnage efficient as possible. My current ship building mindset is based around a grand battle I had, I won but it was costly
